Arsenal defeated Bayer Leverkusen 4-1 at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening thanks to goals from Oleksandr Zinchenko, Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz. AFTV James B shares his player ratings from the victory!

Raya – 7
Wasn’t worked hard but distribution and kicking was excellent!
White – 6
Still not at his very best but most of Arsenal’s best work happened down the left (been a while since we said that!)… He did well though!
Saliba – 7
Very comfortable and very composed… as always!
Gabriel – 7
Again, Arsenal were so comfortable, I can’t say he was brilliant because he didn’t need to be! Did everything extremely professionally. He’s a leader in that line.
Zinchenko – 8
Zinny where you been!? He was running the game, and got on the ball loads in that first half. Good to see, and great strike for his goal. One of the better players in a group of very good performances
Odegaard – 6
Did some lovely things! But not at his usual scintillating best!
Jorginho – 5
Some strange passes that didn’t come off, and he wasn’t happy on the bench after his substitution… but he wasn’t bad! Not at all.
Havertz – 9
Surprised me two games in a row from midfield! 2 assists and a goal, showing real awareness and a clinical side in the way he punished Leverkusen for those moments. He’s looking sharp! My MOTM
Vieira – 5
I just don’t like him on the right… did ok, but didn’t see much of the ball.
Jesus – 8
Very good goal which he made happen for himself, and all-round game as always was good! He seems hungrier for goals this season…
Trossard – 9
Easily could have been Man Of The Match! Brilliant with his goal, brilliant with his touch, turns, tech, awareness, work-rate. Everything about his game was great APART from fading in the 2nd half a bit.

SUBS:

Nichols – 5
Didn’t have long on the pitch! Like the look of him tho!
Kiwior – 6
Played a 2nd half that really died out compared to the first. Kept everything steady!
Heaven – 5
Same as Nichols! Might have been disappointed with the goal but think positioning from the team in general played a part in that.
Lewis-Skelly – 8
Yeah this guy is made for this team… he might play a lot more than we first realised. Strong in possession, positioning is good (maybe could have done better for the Leverkusen goal though), his range of passing is nice and his control in tight areas is polished.
Nwaneri – 7
Involved in build-up for the 4th goal and did some really nice, confident things. Like MLS, looks very strong, at just 17!
Partey – 7
Much better from Partey! Involved in knitting play together nicely at times, especially for that 4th.
Rice – 5
I’ll be honest, didn’t do much! But that’s ok, he has nothing to prove. Get those minutes in the legs!
Saka – 8
Looked really bright, really dangerous! Good to see him looking so sharp.
Nketiah – 5
Had very little time on the pitch!
Martinelli – 5
Same again, very little time!
Arteta – 8
Coached a 4-1 win against Leverkusen but my biggest compliment is that he’s got this group of players hungry to return to action so quickly, while also returning in great shape for the season.
