Arsenal are set to be well represented at this summer’s Euro 2024 tournament. The Gunners have enjoyed a stellar campaign in the English top flight pushing Manchester City in the title race and now their top European stars are set to play for their countries in the next edition of this incredible tournament which pits the best from the continent against each other.
With as many as twelve players potentially set to fly out to Germany for the finals, Arsenal fans will have plenty of teams to back during Euro 2024 matches as they cheer on their international Gunners. This article will profile the Arsenal men who won’t be taking a well-deserved break but will instead be playing at Euros over the next few months.
England: Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka
Two of Arsenal’s key men this season will hold just as much responsibility for Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions.
Rice has helped take the Gunners to the next level since his switch from West Ham last year and could have a similar influence for England with his dominating displays in midfield, an important foundation for the team’s attacking players to enjoy the freedom to show their talents in front of goal.
Saka, meanwhile, may only be 22 but has already scored 11 goals in 32 appearances for his country and will be one of the major forward players at the tournament with confidence sky high after another sensational campaign for Arsenal.
Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has had to settle for a place on the Gunners bench this season and is also likely to play second fiddle to England number one Jordan Pickford when Southgate names his side for the opening match against Serbia.
Germany: Kai Havertz
Havertz is one of Germany’s leading lights with a new generation of talent set to take to the field for Die Mannschaft on home soil. Having enjoyed much success in the 2010s, winning the World Cup in 2014, Germany have stuttered more recently as the side goes through a transition.
However, like for Arsenal, Havertz has expertly linked the team with his exceptional technical ability and prowess in forward positions and Germany will be confident of finding the net through the talisman.
Scoring in March’s victory over France, the 24-year-old will be keen to stay among the goals, particularly playing in his home nation for a major tournament.
Spain: David Raya
No goalkeeper in England’s top flight kept more clean sheets than Raya this season and the stopper has proved exactly why he is international standard, pulling off a number of fine saves throughout the campaign to ensure Arsenal are fighting for silverware.
The 28-year-old, who has previously played for Blackburn and Brentford in England, was named in Spain’s World Cup squad and will be called up again for the Euros together with Athletic Bilbao’s Unai Simon and Alex Remiro of Real Sociedad.
France: William Saliba
All of Arsenal’s players have shined this season but William Saliba has been peerless as part of the best defence in the league and will make a France squad that is packed with talent. As usual, Les Bleus will be one of the favourites with Kylian Mbappe running riot upfront but expect the French to be solid at the back too with Saliba one of a number of top centre-backs Didier Deschamps can call on.
Belgium: Leandro Trossard
Effective in a number of forward positions, Trossard has had a major influence at the Emirates this season, particularly off the bench, scoring a number of key goals including the crucial winner against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
While Belgium’s Golden Generation didn’t achieve the success many expected, the names from that era still playing, position the Red Devils as one of the best teams in Europe with stars like Trossard capable of moments of magic and the Belgians could go far.
Italy: Jorginho
Brazilian-born midfielder Jorginho has earned 52 caps for the Italy national team and one of the wise, older heads in the side at this summer’s Euros. The Arsenal man has made 36 appearances domestically and will be hoping to cap another fine season of pinpointing passing and marauding runs across the turf by helping Italy win a consecutive continental tournament following their Wembley success in 2021.
Which other Arsenal Players will Appear in Germany?
Kieran Tierney has struggled with injuries in recent seasons but has managed to make more than 20 appearances on loan at Real Sociedad this campaign. If the Arsenal left-back remains fit he will be named in the Scotland squad. Elsewhere, Oleksandr Zinchenko will start for Ukraine while Jakub Kiwior is likely to start at the back for Poland.
Summing it up!
Mikel Arteta’s men have enjoyed another fine season and the Arsenal team’s European contingent will be hoping to continue the excellent form into the Euros. With plenty of Gunners appearing in the tournament, a number of players, including Rice, Saka, Jorginho, Raya and Trossard will fancy their chances of lifting the trophy in Berlin this July
