Kai Havertz scored Arsenal’s winning goal in Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Brentford, putting the Gunners top of the Premier League for the first time since Christmas. The German international has been in top form since the winter break and has scored a goal in each of the last four Premier League matches.
Following the win over Brentford, Havertz reflected on his winning goal: “I was just hoping that Ben [White] would find me and it was a very nice cross. I was very free in the box and then obviously also a bit lucky with the goalkeeper but it was a very nice assist from Ben.
“I’m happy but I always want to become better and better. I know football always goes up and down and one week you’re the hero and the next week not, so I just try to work hard and keep the momentum going to help the team.”
“As a kid, I think you dream that you’re going to have moments like this in your career and today I had something like this. [The supporters] made it very special to me and I’m very thankful to have this moment. Thank you to all of them.”
