Arsenal target Benjamin Sesko has decided to stay and extend his contract at Red Bull Leipzig, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Sesko was heavily linked to Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea ahead of the summer transfer window, but the 21-year-old striker has decided to remain at the German club for at least another season.

Romano said: “Benjamin Sesko has decided to accept the proposal from RB Leipzig, he stays at the club and extends his contract. We expect Sesko to sign his contract really soon, it’s agreed, it’s done. Sesko is not going to the Premier League.

“Despite receiving many proposals (from the Premier League), Sesko decides to stay at Leipzig. My information, Sesko had many possibilities: First, new contract proposal from Leipzig, but also two proposals from Saudi, €30m net per season salary, he said no to Saudi immediately.

“The three big possibilities from the Premier League: Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United. These three clubs wanted to sign Sesko. These three Premier League clubs were the most serious.

“He’s still very young (21), and from what I understand he believes that this is the best decision for his development. It’s not about money. If he wanted money he had big possibilities and big salaries in Premier League. He believes staying at Leipzig for one more season and having the possibility to be a crucial player for the squad for the entire season is the best option for his development.

“The club was pushing a lot to keep him, the manager insisting on this one, and now, Sesko decides to accept because he believes this is the best possibility to build for his future.

“Into his new contract, there’s is a new gentleman’s agreement between Sesko, his agents and RB Leipzig, to leave the club in summer 2025 or 2026 with different conditions compared to the €65m (clause) for this summer.”
